How Can Moms Maintain Family And Work?

It’s never easy juggling a full-time career and a family life as a mother. On the one hand, women are equally contributing to the workforce in the Indian economy, while on the other, they are handling their families too! Being a full-time working mother can lead to feelings of stress and guilt due to the split attention between family and work. The goal is to stick to a schedule, get organized, and strike the perfect balance between work and family. Here are four strategies for ensuring that both your work and your family can be managed well.

Say “NO” To The Guilt

Rather than focusing on how you’re missing out on time with your child, consider how your work benefits the family. You could be able to afford specific programs or educational opportunities for your child, or you might be able to save for his/her college. With this slight change in thinking, you will be able to come to terms with decisions and focus on the priorities that exist in the moment. Recognize that you will have both good and bad days. Hence, you should be aware that you are not alone, and you should talk to your partners, in-laws, husband, or even support groups. 

Organize A Family Calendar 

Determine the priorities of your family. A calendar can include due dates for bills, a chore plan for your kid, a calendar of school and family events, extracurricular activities, birthdays, and other information. You can also colour-code and get superimposed on one other, so you can constantly stay on top of scheduling challenges. You can go for Google calendars, which can be readily shared and synced on smartphones. 

Every Sunday, set aside 15 minutes to examine and prepare for the upcoming week’s agenda. This helps to avoid any unpleasant surprises during the week. You should share their calendars with everyone in the family so that everyone is aware of what’s going on. It’s not just about staying organized; it’s also about maintaining a clean environment.

Stay Connected During The Day

Even when you’re not together, stay in touch with your kid. Consider recording yourself talking or singing on camera or recording your voice reading along to a children’s book for moms. Give your child something special in the morning if you’re going to miss or be late for an occasion, such as a good-luck charm or a personal letter. Look into the possibility of taping the event so that you may view it afterwards and not miss a thing. Photos of you and your partner should be hung so that the children may see your faces. Call your child during your work breaks; hearing her/him can help you get through a difficult day, and your kid will be relieved to know you’re thinking of her.

Create Special Activities With Your Family

Making time for your children, both during the week and on weekends, is essential for keeping the family bond strong. If you’re short on time, consider having a family brunch or a family night with board games or movies. Create events that fit into your calendar on a regular basis so that everyone knows what to expect and what to anticipate. Avoid talking about work or checking your phone during family activities. Rather, concentrate on your children’s interests, such as their friends, classes, and hobbies. Look into the activities of your child and try to accommodate them. It doesn’t matter what you do in the end as long as you do it together. 

Have A Good Time With Your Partner

Remember to take care of your relationship with your partner, who will usually be your closest companion. To get closer, feel invigorated, and enjoy each other’s company, start with monthly date nights. When you’re busy with work and home, it’s worth remembering about your relationship. Fostering this interaction will help you “check-in” with each other and bring excitement back to your marriage. Going on a monthly date can be tough and costly for some couples, but that doesn’t mean you can’t focus on each other. Make an indoor date night by making an attractive meal together or simply relaxing with delicious dishes and good conversation.  

“Me” Break

You can fit in valuable “me” time on a regular basis if you manage your time wisely. A relaxing break will allow you to re-energize while attending to your own requirements. Because your time is split between your home and your job, it’s important to keep track of your energy. You can’t be a good partner or parent if you’re irritable, so take care of yourself so you can feel comfortable and productive. Before you go to sleep, read a book, take a bubble bath once a week, or treat yourself to a spa day. Make time for exercise (such as a yoga session) or a hobby. Remember to eat healthy and get enough sleep—simple things that even the smartest mothers overlook.
